In continuation of his consultations to run for Ondo Central Senatorial district seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a chieftain of the party and a Senatorial Aspirant, Agbaka Afolabi Obasuyi, the Agbaka of Alagbaka on Friday met with leaders of the APC Elders Forum in Akure the state capital.
Addressing the elders, Agbaka Obasuyi while welcoming them shared his vision of a great constituency saying as a child to the elders, he really needs their support to birth his dream to facilitate develop to the people.
Agbaka Afolabi who is contesting the Ondo Central Senatorial Seat noted that there is a big problem in the socio, political and economic development of Akure kingdom said he has the quick remedy as the son of the soil born into Elemo dynasty from a mother who comes from the long line of Adesida Family.
He assured that as the head of Alagbaka Community, he understands the challenges of the people and now ready to serve in a higher capacity to attract dividends of democracy to them.
While also underscoring the fact that his interest is borne out of a divine mandate to lead the people aright, Agbaka Obasuyi expressed concern that though Akure is the State capital with the largest voting rights, strengths and capacity, it is yet to produce a Governor or a Minister and has also remained marginalized with federal appointments.
“ I want to change the narrative as an Akure indigene. I am well equipped with knowledge from both local and international universities; therefore I have full capacity to push up the development of Akure kingdom”, he added.
The Senatorial hopeful used the opportunity to reel out his exposure to over 15 different countries stressing that if given the chance, he will bring his wealth of experience to bear and attract international investors to the district.
On some of the things he would do, Agbaka Afolabi said he will put his legislative duties to optimal use to effect the desired change, and that having learnt from the defeats of his past attempts in 2007 and 2011, he is now better positioned to pursue his passion for a better society.
“I will among others engage many of our youths and women because many of our people have been relegated politically. We are at the back door in Akure , therefore this is the best time to get it right. Why can’t we have companies such as Cadbury that will make beverages in Idanre? Why can’t we have Akure textile Mill. I have consultants in Netherlands, Canada and all over who can drive investors here into Akure”, the Monarch stressed.
He maintained that “Every local government deserves to have an industry, hospital, markets as it is in the western world. The economic policy of Lagos is more like of that of Netherlands, so we can replicate it”.
Attesting to the good deeds of Agbaka Afolabi, Comrade Asoto Adeleke, the Youth Coordinator of the campaign team described him as a man full of passion for the development of his people just as he urged the people to support him to achieve his dream.
Also speaking, the chairman of the forum while speaking on behalf of the elders prayed for Agbaka Afolabi just as he assured him of their supports.
