Palpable fear enveloped residents of Nyinma area in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, following the death of a young lady in a hotel in the community.
The victim was said to have been taken to the hotel at the weekend only for her dead body to be discovered in the hotel room.
“This thing happened on Saturday; the couple lodged in the hotel on Friday, but the following day, we heard that the body of the lady was found with some parts removed.
“We cannot say if the man that brought her to the hotel was arrested,” a resident of the area known as Sunny said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the report, adding that three persons had been arrested in connection with the death.
Anene, however, denied the removal of the lady’s body parts.
The PPRO said, “There is a death report of a lady in a hotel but details will come from doctors; we did not see marks of violence on her body. So, the autopsy will reveal the cause of the death. The person that died was dressed; we didn’t see marks on her body meaning there were no injuries”.
“Three suspects were arrested in connection with this case so they will give us details. We can’t say it is a case of murder because we didn’t see marks of violence.”
