ONDO SSG, ODU CHARGES PARENTS ON GIRL-CHILD EDUCATION
The Secretary to Ondo State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, has congratulated Folakemi Omoyeni for making the state and womenfolk exceedingly proud through her feats in the last Senior School Certificate Examination, (SSCE), University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
Folakemi, a student of Telnet International School, Akure who got distinction in 9 subjects in SSCE also scored 338 in UTME and 1,400 (87.5%) in SAT.
In an exclusive interview after Miss Omoyeni visited the Government of Ondo state, the SSG said the student had by the feat, once again, proven her right that what men can do, women can do as well.
“You will remember that I always make the point that what men can do women can do, too, if given the right opportunities because things like success, victory, good conduct, innovations etc are not determined by gender, rather, they respond to focus, commitment, sincerity, diligence and discipline.”
Odu appreciated Folakemi’s parents for supporting her to become the cynosure of all eyes and emphasized that the time has come for parents to invest more in the girl child because of their enormous capacity to do exploits and make the world a better place.
She challenged more females to develop the ‘can-do’ spirit and give any endeavour they are involved in everything legitimately and morally required to succeed.
“Girls, know that you are not inferior to the boy child, so step forward, reach for the top, make yourself unstoppable and you will get there.”
She saluted the courage and resilience of Omoyeni, noting that those qualities are essential for the outstanding multiple success she achieved, and promised to always support her.
Odu equally challenged women to keep supporting women like men do for men, stressing that the best of every gender needs to be supported to lead.
The SSG commended women in Ondo state for always standing by one another, noting that women in the state are simply the most united and most formidable in the country, and prayed that they will continue to achieve unusual feats, socially, politically and in every other area of life.
She thanked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON for proving to women that he is a father who does not discriminate, adding that all women need to do is show that they can do any task well and the governor will not hesitate to give them the opportunity to excel.
