WE WORKED FOR VICTORY IN EDO GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION – OLABINTAN REPLIES PDP
…Says the development signals what to expect in November Governorship exercise in Ondo State
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State and former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabintan has attributed the outcome of the Edo State governoship election to display of hope and hardwork by party leaders.
Olabintan who is the current Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board stressed that while the All Progressives Congress members and leaders were wooing the electorate for support, their opponents were boasting that the exercise would be a do-or-die affair.
Olabintan’s was responding to a statement by the PDP that the electoral victory in the Edo governorship
was not deserved.

RE: GANDUJE’S GLOATING OVER EDO GUBER ELECTION RESULT: A CONFIRMATION THAT ELECTION WAS RIGGED
A drowning man, my people say, will clutch at a straw to keep afloat. The PDP is notorious for penchant to always want to blame everybody, but itself for every failure. Whenever they win a court case, they praise the judiciary to high heaven, but anytime they lose, the judiciary is called all sort of names. Similarly, INEC and police always receive lavish encomium whenever the outcome of an election favours the PDP, but when the reverse is the case, they cry wolf.
There is nothing wrong in complaining and venting grievances, but it has to be done within the ambit of the law. Luckily, the law of the land allows and encourages aggrieved parties to seek redress in the law court. The pains and the desperation being exhibited by the PDP at the moment is understandable. They reserve the unquestionable right to grieve as they wish over their loss in Edo State. After all, you cannot beat a child and still tell him not to cry.
The PDP went to the Edo State gubernatorial election as a deflated and completely deserted political party, while the APC approached the election with a united front. While the PDP was boasting that the Edo State guber election was a “do or die” affairs, the APC on the other hand, was busy wooing the electorate and critical stakeholders in Edo State. Eventually, the strategy and hard work of the Ganduje led team culminated in the victory for the APC.
Just like the PDP can grieve as it pleases, the APC also reserves the right to celebrate their hard earned victory. The key to sustaining successful stride is more hard work! It is, therefore, appropriate and courageous for Ganduje while celebrating the success of the APC, to declare that the strategic approach and hard work that earned the APC victory in Edo State would be repeated in other states. Unfortunately, this simple message is too difficult for the Ondo State chapter of the PDP to interpret. Maliciously, the message has been twisted and misrepresented because they know that they stand no chance in the November 16, Ondo State governorship election. They are, therefore, creating futuristic alibi to justify their impending failure.
In every contest, there must be a winner! However, bad losers will always find fault and look for who to blame for their failures. While the Edo State PDP issued a state-wide broadcast to encourage and calm the Edo PDP members down with a promise to carefully study the electioneering process with a view to seeking redress in line with the electoral law, if necessary, the Ondo State PDP is already threatening and promising violence against the November 16 Ondo State governorship election that they have no chance of winning at all. It’s an aberration and a cheap blackmail on the part of Ondo State PDP to insinuate that APC will soil it hands by tampering with the already tore and shredded umbrella.
Ondo State PDP couldn’t match the APC in electoral contest when its house was in order with full-team intact, not to talk of now that majority of who-is-who in the party have dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress. Ondo PDP is going into the November 16 governorship election without Segun Mimiko, Joseph Akinlaja, Jumoke Akindele, Ebenezer Alabi, Kolade Akinjo, Gboluga Ikengbolu, Gboye Adegbenro, Jide Adejuyigbe, and several other PDP bigwigs, who have pitched their tent with the ruling party
Ondo State PDP doesn’t need a soothsayer to know that the game is over. They are conscious of the fact that the day of reckoning is beckoning. Edo PDP was able to do the little it did because it was deserted just few days to the election. Unlike Ondo State PDP that has been stripped naked months before the election. Their frustration is therefore understandable.
However, no contest is worth the blood of any human being. We, therefore, use this medium to call the attention of all security agencies to the threats of the Ondo State PDP. They know that APC’s victory is inevitable because the PDP is ill-prepared. Rather than working out strategies on how to rebuild their tattered umbrella, they are already planning mayhem against the result of the election that is several weeks’ away. “Cowards die many times before their death… ”
The APC is more formidable now under the chairmanship of His Excellency, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and if the feat is sustained, more successful outings await the APC. This isn’t a boast, but rather, a simple statement of fact because unity produces nothing but success. Therefore, rather than shifting blames on everybody but itself, the PDP should look inward and put its house in order. You cannot be unprepared for election and rely on your “do or die” campaign for victory. The people are wiser now!
This is a clarion call on the electorate and well-meaning citizens of Ondo State to strengthen their trust and dedication in the electioneering process, and come out en masse to perform their civic responsibility on November 16 to elect the Governor of their choice. INEC and the security agencies will ensure that your votes count. In APC, we have nothing to worry about because we are confident that you “the people” are with us.
Things can only get better with the continuity of Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as our governor. Ondo people, let us jointly make it happen.
APC is Lucky!
Aiyedatiwa is Lucky!!
Ondo people are Lucky!!!
Signed,
Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan
Chairman, SUBEB, Ondo State
