
MAN RAISES ALARM OVER REMOVAL OF MANHOLE COVERS ON ABUJA HIGHWAYS
…Fingers scrap metal boys who were alleged to be carrying out such acts at odd hours
A Nigerian residing in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory has raised alarm over removal of sewage manhole covers on the highways in the City center.
The manhole covers are suspected to have been removed by scrap metal boys who would later sell as metals.
The middle-aged man who came on the social media to alert relevant Nigerian motorists and government officials expressed worry that death traps had been created on the roads.
The areas affected include the Central Area close to the Bank of Industry.
In his words, “I am a Nigerian and I should be bothered about this. This is not just sad but a frightening one”.
“You people will be blaming government, President Tinubu all the time but what you people are doing is very difficult to comprehend”.
“He was moving from one spot to the other to point the attention of relevant stakeholders to the damages allegedly done to the roads by the scrap metal boys who must have carried out the act in the dead of the night”.
He called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and law enforcement agencies to be on the top the situation.
Observers also wondered why such categories of business should be allowed in the city centre in the first place, wondering what has happened to the Abuja master plan.
