
LIONS CLUB COMMENDS ONDO SUBEB BOSS OVER IMPACT OF DELIVERY MANDATE
…We need more of your humanitarian projects in Ondo State — Olabimtan
The Lions Club International through its affiliate doyen club in Ondo State, Akure-Owena Lions Club, has commended the Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, Rt Honourable Victor Olabimtan for using his positions in government to impact the lives of citizens.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Chairman in his office in Akure, the President of Akure-Owena Lions Club, Lion ( Otunba) Akinola Falusi described Rt. Hon. Olabimtan as a professional in politics whose commitments to the wellbeing of citizens particularly the downtrodden and the youths have remained unparalleled.
“We in the Lions Club family are happy at your ways of life in politics. You have continually used your positions in government to the benefits of the masses. We are proud of you and we will always pray for God’s guidance for you in all your endeavors”, the President said.
Lion Akinola Falusi used the opportunity of the visit to present the plaque of the award which the Board of Directors of the club conferred on Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan at the begining of the 2024/25 Lions Year.
The Award of Sustainable Development through Quality Services to the Advancement of the Sunshine State is in recognition of the unrelenting efforts of Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan to the development of Ondo State.
In his message at the occasion a Past Council Chairman of the Club in Multiple District Nigeria, PCC Olumuyiwa Jegede said the Lions Club has remained a critical partner of government attracting several life changing projects through grants drawn from the Lions Club International Foundation to advance the wellbeing of citizens.
In Ondo State, PCC Jegede said the Lions Club has remodelled the Millennium Eye Centre with state of the art equipment and likewise the Dialysis Centre both at the UNIMED-TH, Akure courtesy of the Lions Club Foundation.
He said: “At the club and community level, Akure-Owena Lions Club is currently redesigning our facility at the School for Hearing Impaired Akure to make it a functioning Clinic. The project will cost us about #5million”.
Also an elder of the Club , Lion (Engr.) Olajide Ola-Obeisun urged those in positions of authority to emulate the political ideals of Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan which he said have endeared him to the masses.
“Rt Hon sir, some of us trace your unconditional services to humanity to your upbringing by your parents.
“Yours is, ‘like father -like son’ and ‘like mother-like son’. Your parents were unrepentant givers. Congratulations sir”, Lion Ola-Obeisun said.
The District Global Extension Officer for District 404A-4, Nigeria, Lion. Bode Akinwumi said the Lions Club is currently extending its tentacles to the heart of Akoko land with the formation of Ikare Diaspora Lions Club and would want to leverage on the goodwill of Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan to birth another club in Akungba and Supare Akoko.
In his response, Rt Hon. Victor Olabimtan appreciated the Lions Club which he described as a foremost Charity Organisation for its continued partnership with government and encouragement to appointees of government who are delivering on their mandates.
He assured that he will not depart from the chore values of decency and unconditional services to humanity.
Rt Hon. Olabimtan used the opportunity to call on the Lions Club to continue to use its network to attract development to Ondo State and support for the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
A Commissioner in SUBEB , Princes Olufunmilayo Ademulegun-Brown was at the event.
