
UNN PRO-CHANCELLOR KAYODE OJO BACKS EMERGENCY RULE IN RIVERS, CONFIRMS INTENTION TO RUN FOR GOVERNORSHIP IN EKITI
The Pro -Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Engr. Kayode Ojo has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State.
Engr. Kayode Ojo, who weighed in on the national matter, said the President’s action was to restore peace and security to the State.
The APC chieftain, who confirmed his interest to run for the Governorship race in Ekiti State in 2026, expressed satisfaction that the presidential action had restored peace to a once tense State.
He described President Tinubu as a patriot and a nation builder who would not allow any groups or persons to create crisis and destroy the nation’s oil infrastructure.
Similarly, Engr Ojo has dismissed opposition politicians who are massing together for the purpose of unseating the president in 2027. He described such politicians as lacking the clout and national appeal to win the people’s confidence and support.
He, therefore, urged peace loving Nigerians to continue to support the president to enable him to implement the people’s centric policies and programmes that will usher in prosperity and abundance to the citizenry.
Meanwhile, Engr. Ojo said he is setting up an explorative committee of notable men and women in his bid to run for the gubernatorial election, and subsequent Governorship in Ekiti State, come 2026.
Ojo said President Tinubu needs a Development Partner in Ekiti to implement his Renewed Hope Agenda and that he,(Ojo) fits this role.
Engr. Ojo stressed his commitment to use his contacts around the world to make his Ekiti home state an investment destination to boost development.
