I AM PREPARED TO CONTEST EKITI GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION AND WIN –ENGR KAYODE OJO
…Condemns false report claiming he had withdrawn from 2026 race
The Pro-Chancellor of University of Nigeria, Nsuka, Engr. Kayode Ojo has again confirmed his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The metallurgical Engineer who was speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti said the move is to rescue Ekiti State from what he described as pedestrian governance.
Engr. Ojo frowned at a situation where people had to gather to carry placards to celebrate provision of a single transformer which he said individuals have been providing for their communities.
He vowed to put in place a leadership that will prioritise provision of infrastructure as well as human and societal development.
The Ikoro-Ekiti-born politician states that there have been calls from various quarters from prominent stakeholders to come and rescue Ekiti State from self-centred politicians.
Engr. Ojo described as untrue a report which he said must have originated from Governor Oyebanji’s team claiming that he would not contest the 2026 governorship election.
In his words, “I expect the Governor to have come out boldly that we should meet on the field. Why sponsoring a fake news that I am not interested in the number seat in the state”.
“No wonder there is no semblance of serious governance in the state. Let them hear once again that we are prepared to contest and win this time in the interest of the generality of our people”.
