ILE-OLUJI YOUTH COUNCIL ADVOCATES EMPOWERMENT AS GROUP VISITS LG BOSS
The umbrella body of Ile-Oluji youth, under the aegis of Oijefon Youth Council (OYC), led by President Engr. Adedokun Adeyonu has advocated for youth development through empowerment. This empowerment would come in the form of skills acquisition, agriculture, scholarships, and bursaries to help students in tertiary institutions.
During a courtesy visit to the office of the Executive Chairman of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government, Hon. Adeboye Adebare, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the youth leader congratulated him on his inauguration as Chairman. The visit also aimed to solicit support for Ile-Oluji’s youth.
According to Engineer Adeyonu, the Oijefon Youth Council is a platform coordinating all Ile-Oluji kingdom youth. Its objective is to support members in self-discovery, empowerment, self-reliance, and growth. This would promote peace, harmony, and sustainable community development.
Engineer Adeyonu stated, “As young people, we recognize the vital role of government in shaping our future. We acknowledge your administration’s efforts in areas such as education, entrepreneurship, security, and infrastructure.
However, we also understand that youth are not just beneficiaries of development but also key stakeholders in driving progress.” he said.
The youth leader added that youths are eager to participate in governance, community development projects, and leadership training. “We believe that when the energy and creativity of young people are harnessed properly, the entire society benefits.”
He also called on the chairman to support the youth in completing the township stadium opposite the local government secretariat. This would promote sports activities.
He assured the chairman that Ile-Oluji’s youth would remain law-abiding, responsible, and dedicated to the local government’s progress. The youth pledged loyalty and cooperation in working with the administration to achieve a brighter future.
The chairman, Hon. Adeboye Adebare expressed gratitude to the youth body for the visit. He saw it as a sign that the youths are ready to work with the government. Since taking office, he has initiated projects to make working conditions conducive for workers. These projects include salary increments for ad-hoc staff, solar installations to electrify the complex, and the purchase of a utility vehicle.
The local government boss promised to facilitate the community stadium project by presenting it to the state executives. “The essence of government is to make life easier for people than how it was,” he said. He promised to involve and engage the youth in the administration, with subsequent meetings to check on promises made and further developments.
