SENIOR BUREAUCRATS COMMEND GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA’S COMMITMENT TO WORKERS’ WELFARE
…As Ondo Forum of Permanent Secretaries honour retirees
The Ondo state Forum of Permanent Secretaries has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for paying ‘serious’ attention to workers welfare.
Chairman of the Forum, Bunmi Alade gave the commendation on Wednesday at the annual get-together and send-off ceremony for retired Permanent Secretaries in the state public service.
Alade said, “Your Excellency sir, it is no news that your financial commitment to Security, Health, Education, Infrastructural Development, Sports, among others in the recent, is huge.
“Your commitment to the welfare of staff in the regular payment of salaries and other entitlements have been second to none.
He however advocated the upward review of allowances being given to Permanent Secretaries in the state.
Alade also appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa to expedite procurement of official vehicles for some of its members who are yet to benefit from the Official vehicles given to other Permanent Secretaries about two years ago.
Governor Aiyedatiwa on 19th October, 2023 distributed official vehicles to Permanent Secretaries in the state.
The governor later appointed some Permanent Secretaries after the distribution of the official vehicles as the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are yet to benefit from the state government’s gesture.
However, we want to call your attention to the fact that you already approved the procurement of official vehicles for the Permanent Secretaries appointed after the distribution that took place on 19th October, 2023. Sir, the taste of the puddy is in the eating.
“Your Excellency Sir, these colleagues of ours are eagerly looking forward to the day they will be called to collect their keys from you. “Ireti pipe a maa fi okan saare, (Perfect hope makes the heart happy).”
“Also sir, with all sense of humility, the issue of Furniture Allowance, which is what can differentiate a Permanent Secretary from other civil servants is of importance.
“Let me say that the take home of a Permanent Secretary in Ondo State is not more than that of a GL 14 of the Medical cadre, and yet some of these Permanent Secretaries are supervising the various ranks and file in that cadre.
“I pray you help look into this sir, as our members are relying on your heart of magnanimity in this regard.”
Chief Alade however called on members of the forum to reciprocate the government’s gesture by being more dedicated and committed to work.
He said, “In like terms, let me use this opportunity, once again, to implore all of us Permanent Secretaries, to please continue to be dedicated, diligent and committed to our jobs, ensuring we deplore reasonable care and skill in carrying out our official duties.
“This is really a time for emotional intelligence in our relationship with our subordinates and the general public. We must be passionate about the agenda of “O” datiwa, O’ dirorun” “OUR EASE” and make sure we leave no stone unturned in pursuing the vision. To whom much is given much is also expected.”
In a remark, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the Permanent Secretaries for their invaluable contribution to ensure a better Ondo state.
He said, “To all of you, your dedication, service and commitment to the growth and development of our great state have been truly invaluable. I will take this opportunity to celebrate you for your contributions. Your wealth of experience, expertise and unwavering commitment have not only shaped the public service of our dear state, but have also helped new institutions thrive, develop and improve lives.
“Your tireless efforts have had a lasting impact on our state’s progress and your legacy will continue to inspire generations of public servants. Today, we honor your service, acknowledge the impact you have made and express our deepest gratitude for your selfless services.
“I am particularly touched by the honor bestowed upon me by this noble forum and those awards and gifts to be celebrated by the very individuals who have dedicated their lives to public service and who have made appreciable efforts.
“It is a testament to the progress we have made in building a sustainable synergy between the grassroots and the political class. I accept this honor you have given to me not just as a personal recognition, but as a reflection of the collective efforts of our administration to promote the welfare of our wonderful state and our people. As we move forward, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to strengthening our institutions, investing in human capital, and fostering and enabling environments that promote growth, development and innovation.
“Our administration is dedicated to creating opportunities for all citizens, ensuring that Ondo State remains a beacon of hope, prosperity and progress.
“We will continue to prioritize policies and programs that promote progress, prosperity and the well-being of our citizens, driven by an unwavering commitment to the good people of Undo State. We must acknowledge the void created on the public service by the departure of your retiring colleagues.
“Let me also assure you once again that our administration holds these forums dearly, and we cherish your immense collaboration in accomplishing our East Seven Points Development Agenda. Together, we will build a brighter future for Undo State, driven by our shared vision of progress, prosperity and development. We will work collaboratively to address challenges, seize opportunities and promote the well-being of our citizens.”
