10TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY: DEJI OF AKURE NOMINATES BARRISTER OLUMUYIWA ADU FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
As one of the activities lined up to celebrate the 10th Coronation Anniversary of Akure Monarch, His Imperial Majesty, Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba (Dr) Aladetoyibo Ogunlade Aladelusi, CFR, Odundun II has designated the Akure- born oil magnate and Chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Ondo state, Dr Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu (Cubana) for a Community Service Award.
The decision was conveyed to the great Philanthropist via a letter personally signed by the first class king who doubles as the Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, MInna.
In the official letter of nomination, the event was scheduled to take place on Saturday, 19th July, 2025 at the popular MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure.
Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu is an epitome of visionary leadership, compassion and community development whose unwavering commitment is dedicated to democratic growth, spiritual revival and human capacity building.
Highlighting him among other political players and human developers in Ondo state does not pose much stress as his name has become a household name on the lips of the masses and on the special lists as a Topnotcher within and beyond his native land.
He provides support to individuals who face one form of challenges or the other, as he attends to group demands and community needs, making him the most charitable personality in recent years to be befriended by the press, the public and the political parties
Dr Adu has given hundreds of millions of Nigerian currency as voluntary donations to aid businesses, education, health and several financial support to churches and mosques and to promote cultural values, arts and traditional events.
Ebenezer Obey, the popular Juju maestro, once sang in one of his evergreen albums: “Ka to fiyan joye laarin ilu, o ni lati jeni rere”. This literally means, “Before giving Chieftaincy title to anybody in society, s/he must be a good person”.
This aptly applies to Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu. His good personality has many attractions including Honorary Chieftaincy titles from different communities, academic recognitions from foreign and local universities, meritorious laurels from the national and multinational establishments, awards of excellence from social clubs, organisations, magazines, publishers, sub ethnic groups, associations and cooperative societies among many political promotions.
These accomplishments have built the trust of the good people of Ondo Central and its major stakeholders who want paradigm shift from the present lukewarm dispensation and are clamouring for Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu to declare for the senatorial contest.
They want a political marriage of compassion and competence ; they want humanitarian governance that will justify the allocations and constituency allowances by alleviating the people’s expectations. To them, “much is being given to the elected but little is being dispensed”.
They have opinionated, quite correctly too, that Dr Adu would add ‘more’ from his personal purse to the ‘much’ from the public funds to deliver the dividends. They want tangible deliverables as empowerment programmes.
They want the representatives who can show, in equal measures, both passion for development and compassion for the downtrodden.
They want somebody, a strong force and voice in the camp of progressive champions, who will be acceptable to all and ensure intergovernmental harmony that will bring genuine renewal of hope with ease.
Testimonies abound about the way and manner Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu is using his wealth, good character, intellect and contacts to make positive impacts on the lives of individuals and to partake in the communities’ developmental projects which ordinary should have been difficult to execute if there are no financial interventions.
He has demonstrated practical love and thoughtfulness for his kith and kin, followers and admirers; his community and his kingdom. He has admirably displayed his capacity and competencies to perform if given the ticket to victory.
In his usual humility, Barr. Adu doesn’t like media sensationalism that trails his good deeds, he prefers them unannounced but politics has exposed him to be a man of immeasurable means, intelligence and kindness, and the news is spreading like wildfire, generating plaudits across Ondo State.
Dr Barr. Olumuyiwa Adu’s cap has many colourful feathers of honour but this award is remarkably different. It is coming directly from the prestigious royal throne of his ancestral home. The recognition will boost his resolve to contribute more relentlessly to humanitarianism and community building.
