OWO/OSE REPS MEMBER, TIMEHIN ADELEGBE FELICITATES AIYEDATIWA, ADELAMI OVER APPEAL COURT VICTORY
The member representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Otunba Timehin Adelegbe has felicitated the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, mni at the Appeal Court.
The Court of Appeal, sitting in Akure, on Thursday, July 31, 2025, affirmed the election.
This followed the dismissal of the appeals of some political parties against the judgment of the Ondo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal of June 4, 2025, which affirmed the election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied People’s Movement (APM) and Social Development Party (SDP) had filed appeals against the judgment of the tribunal, asking for the invalidation of the November 16, 2024 governorship election.
However, the three Justices, Justice Nimpar Yargata, Justice K.I. Amadi and Justice I.M. Sani, unanimously struck out the appeals, one after the other, for not substantiating the claims of non compliance with the Electoral Act.
The Justices held that the appellants failed to prove their allegations against the election as they did not show how their claims affected the election in the various polling units, wards and local government areas where the election took place.
The appellate court also ruled that the parties abandoned their cases as there were no credible witnesses called at the tribunal to back up their claims of widespread irregularities in the various polling units.
In a statement signed by the Spokesperson to the federal legislator, Hon. Olaniyi Eni-Olotu, Otunba Adelegbe described the development as confirmation of the overwhelming victory recorded by the Governor and his deputy at the polls.
Otunba Adelegbe emphasized that the results of the election is not only historic but also open display of support for the All Progressives Congress in the governorship election.
Adelegbe expressed the hope that the Governor would keep making a difference and also keep justifying the confidence reposed in him.
The federal legislator called on the opponents in the other political parties to join hands with the Governor towards the development of the state.
He also called on residents of the state to keep sustaining the relative peace being enjoyed across the state.
