WILDLIFE SOCIETY OF NIGERIA HONOURS ONDO PERM SEC CHIEF SEGUN ODUSANYA WITH MERIT AWARD
The Wildlife Society of Nigeria (WISON) conferred a special merit award on Chief Segun Odusanya, Permanent Secretary of the Forestry/Produce sub-sector of Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The award was presented at the 7th annual conference held at the Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure, with the theme “Globalisation and Trade: Trends and Impacts on Conservation.”
Chief Odusanya was recognized for his significant contributions to wildlife conservation in Ondo State, Nigeria, and beyond. His commitment to wildlife conservation and agroforestry development has been commendable.
The award was presented by Prof. Augustine U. Ogogo, National President of WISON, in recognition of Chief Odusanya’s noteworthy dedication and service.
In his acceptance speech, Chief Odusanya stated that the Ondo State Government, through the Wildlife Department of the Ministry, is collaborating with FUTA to restore the OSSE River Park and protect wildlife activities. This includes indigenous tree species planting to attract the return of animals that migrated due to human invasion.
Chief Odusanya assured that the Ondo State Government would continue to welcome and partner with relevant stakeholders in wildlife conservation management practices and forest regeneration. This, he said, would boost ecotourism, biodiversity, and revenue generation for the state.
He appreciated the society for honoring him, stressing that it would spur him to do more to ensure human activities do not hinder wildlife activities as created by nature. Chief Odusanya dedicated the award to God Almighty, the entire staff, and Ondo State in general.
