ONDO ENERGY COMMISSIONER PARTNERS PETROLEUM DEALERS FOR EFFICIENT SERVICE DELIVERY
The Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. (Dr.) Johnson Jaiyeola Alabi, has held a familiarization meeting with the executives of the Petroleum Dealers and Marketers Association, Ondo State Chapter, to assess their ongoing operations and explore areas of enhanced collaboration with the state government.
Welcoming the delegation to his office, Engr. Alabi emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the government and the association, stressing that both parties must work in alignment to ensure effective service delivery within the downstream petroleum sector.
He noted that part of the Ministry’s responsibility is to guarantee that citizens receive full value for their money at fuel dispensing points across the state.
According to a statement signed by the Information Officer in the Ministry, Debbie Funmilayo, the Commissioner also highlighted a number of pressing issues requiring the Association’s attention, including the construction of filling stations beneath power transmission lines, which he warned poses significant risks to lives and property.
He further discussed the association’s obligations to the Ministry — such as dues, compliance requirements, and the provision of critical operational information — all of which are necessary for improved sectoral oversight and development.
Engr. Alabi urged the association to maintain continuous synergy with the Ministry, noting that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa places strong emphasis on the commitment of petroleum marketers to the state’s growth and expects their cooperation in ensuring seamless operations across the sector.
In his response, the Ondo State Chairman of the Petroleum Dealers and Marketers Association, Engr. Bayo Olowokere, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for the interactive session.
He reaffirmed the association’s dedication to lawful and compliant operations while pledging continued collaboration with the state government through the Ministry.
Engr. Olowokere also appealed to the government to maintain open communication channels and provide a listening ear whenever the association presents its challenges and policy concerns.
Present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Alhaji Olabode Yusuf; Director of Mineral Resources, Mr. Abiodun Jones; Deputy Director of Mineral Resources, Engr.
