AIYEDATIWA’S AIDE ON TECHNICAL EDUCATION OLUYI DIRECTS CONTRACTORS TO RETURN TO SITE
The Ondo State Government has directed all contractors employed by the Aiyedatiwa-led administration, handling the rehabilitation and construction of technical colleges in various locations around the State to expedite work so as meet up with last year’s deadline for the completion of the projects.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Ogbeni Tayo Oluyi, handed down this directive in his office, during a familiarization and sensitization meeting with the contractors handling the project.
Ogbeni Oluyi, hinted that a meeting was highly necessary first, to interface, second, to assess what had been done in the past and last, to target measures that would ensure the projects are delivered in a timely fashion.
He recalled that after his appointment last year, he took it upon himself to tour the technical schools around the state to evaluate the level of progress attained regarding the ongoing construction. Thereafter, he said the Board’s management team also provided valid information available in their records, giving update on some bottlenecks being faced by some of the contractors.
According to him, the Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, understands that skilled trade is the backbone of any industry and that is why he has made available the financial resources necessary to ensure students learn in a modern, safe and industry standard environment, and is expectant to see it delivered within record time.
The Technical Education boss, emphasized that the Governor had further mentioned that any contractor who failed to deliver on the job as expected shall be sanctioned. Noting that no excuse was tenable, as most of the wherewithal had been disbursed and at completion, no contractor shall be owed a dime.
Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant commended those contractors who had completed their projects and others who had on record an appreciable level of progress. He therefore charged all contractors with pending projects to return to site with immediate effect, promising that the state government shall ensure the cooperation of the benefitting communities so that the project can be executed successfully.
Project Supervisor, Arch. Onibudo Gbenga, shared with the house the recorded level of progress so far regarding the project. He, however urged the contractors to ensure not only timely delivery, but a quality project for the benefit of the community.
Giving his reaction, one of the contractors Mr. Yemi Dara, on behalf of his colleagues expressed gratitude to the State Government for initiating the familiarization visit and for showing support in areas that had been challenging to them in the past. He pledged maximum cooperation going forward.
The meeting was attended by Directors within the Board and other contractors attached to the project.
