KAYODE FAYEMI MOURNS ALAWE, OBA
ADEBANJI AJIBADE ALABI
Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, has
expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi,
Afuntade I, the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti.
In a condolence message, Dr. Fayemi extended his heartfelt sympathies to the Government
and people of Ekiti State, the Ilawe Royal Family, the immediate family of the late monarch,
and the entire Ilawe-Ekiti community.
He described the monarch’s death as a monumental
loss to Ekiti State and the nation at large.
Dr. Fayemi noted that the late Alawe’s reign brought remarkable development to Ilawe-Ekiti
and fostered unity among its people.
According to him,
“the late Alawe’s dedication to
preserving our cultural heritage, as well as his tireless efforts toward the growth and
development of his community and Ekiti State, will be remembered for generations to come.
”
The former governor further described Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi as an accomplished
diplomat who dedicated over 25 years of service to the nation, rising to the position of Deputy
Director in various foreign missions,
“Throughout his career, he distinguished himself as a
diligent, upright, and committed public servant”
.
Reflecting on their time in public service together, Dr. Fayemi stated: “Oba Ajibade Alabi
served as Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers from 2019 to 2021 during
my administration.
During this period, he demonstrated exemplary leadership by prioritizing
the welfare of the Council, promoting harmony among traditional rulers, and remaining
steadfast in his commitment to the development of Ekiti State”
.
He added that the monarch’s fourteen-year reign would be remembered for its significant
contributions to community development, his investments in the welfare of his people, and his
lasting legacy of service, integrity, and godliness.
Concluding his statement, Dr. Fayemi said:
“Kabiyesi’s passing is a personal loss to me and
my family. As we mourn his departure, we also celebrate a life well spent in service to
humanity and the advancement of society. I urge the Royal Family, the people of Ilawe-Ekiti,
and all associates of the late monarch to take solace in the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.
May his soul rest in the bosom of our Lord, and may God grant his family the strength and
fortitude to bear this irreparable loss”.
