The newly appointed Head of Service of Ondo State, Chief Segun Odusanya, on Monday received a warm welcome from Permanent Secretaries and staff as he officially resumed duties at his office in the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure.
The reception was marked by dancing, prayers and expressions of goodwill as workers gathered to celebrate his assumption of office following his appointment by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Addressing workers, Chief Odusanya expressed appreciation to the governor for finding him worthy of the appointment and pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessors.
“I am grateful to God and to Mr Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve in this capacity. I will carefully look at what my predecessor has done and build on the foundation already laid,” he said.
The new Head of Service assured workers that their welfare would remain a priority, noting that the state government has consistently demonstrated commitment to the well-being of civil servants.
“Within the limited resources available to us, workers should expect better things. Workers’ welfare is very important, and I believe Mr Governor does not take it for granted. With the support and cooperation of workers, we will achieve greater success in the service,” he stated.
Chief Odusanya also urged civil servants to remain dedicated and committed to their duties, stressing the need for workers to reciprocate the government’s efforts through increased productivity and professionalism.
“When we consider the commitment of Mr Governor to workers’ welfare, we should also strive to reciprocate such gestures through diligence and dedication to duty,” he added.
The colourful reception underscored the confidence reposed in the new Head of Service by workers, who expressed optimism that his leadership would further strengthen the Ondo State Public Service.
