Group alleges plot to concede Benue to oppositions in 2027
National Youths Coalition, NYC has alleged of a plot by some politicians within the political camp of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. George Akume to concede Benue State to the opposition parties in 2027.
The group made the allegation in a press statement signed by its National Convener, Mr. John Vershima, Esq, stressing that President Bola Tinubu should immediately stop the plan.
According to the group, the plan became a public knowledge during a meeting which a former Senatorial aspirant of the Benue State chapter of All Progressive Congress, Mr. Emmanuel Jime held with Senator George Akume at his office in Abuja few days ago.
Recall that Jime has three days ago led about twenty one chieftains of the All Progressive Congress in Benue state to the office of the SSG with a claim that they were aggrieved and have vowed not to work with Governor Hyacinth Alia and the ruling party in the state in 2027.
Reacting to the visit, the advocacy group specifically stated that there is a strategic partnership between Senator George Akume and the Benue State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party
The group stated further that the plan is to make sure that All Progressive Congress loses the 2027 general elections to the People’s Democratic Party at all levels.
According to the group, the strategic partnership between Akume and Former Governor Samuel Ortom will surely be a repeat of what happened in 2023 when the former governor used his power to ensure that the the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi won at the presidential election.
The group noted that Obi’s victory in Be he state made the People’s Democratic Party to lose the governorship election in 2023.
The group urged the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress to immediately wade into the leadership crisis between Governor Hyacinth Alia and Senator George Akume before things get out of hand..
National Youths Coalition also complained about the way which the Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr. Mike Aondoakaa handled the compensation of victims of Zaki Biam-Gbeji massacres when he was Attorney General of the Federation.
The group accused the former Minister for Justice of not using his position to ensure that the victims were adequately compensated by the government which he served as Attorney General.
