AAUA VC PROF TOMOLA OBAMUYI HAILS AIYEDATIWA FOR OVER ₦1 BILLION INTERVENTION FUND
…Assures Swift Resolution of ASUU Strike
The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State and Visitor to the University, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for approving and releasing over ₦1 billion as a Special Intervention Fund to offset outstanding salary arrears.
Prof. Obamuyi described the intervention as a timely and impactful gesture that would pave the way for the resolution of the ongoing industrial action by the AAUA branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), thereby restoring normal academic and research activities across the institution.
Commending the governor’s unwavering commitment to higher education and the welfare of university staff, the Vice Chancellor stated: “This special intervention demonstrates His Excellency’s unwavering commitment to the growth and development of our university, as well as the welfare of its workforce. It reflects his determination to sustain a stable academic calendar and ensure that our students complete their studies without unnecessary disruptions. As an institution, we will reciprocate this generous gesture by remaining committed to our core mandate of teaching, research, and community service, while fostering peace and stability on our campus. We reaffirm our support for Your Excellency’s vision of advancing uncommon academic excellence and driving sustainable development across Ondo State.”
The Vice Chancellor expressed confidence that the intervention would facilitate the prompt suspension of the strike and the immediate resumption of academic activities.
It will be recalled that the AAUA chapter of ASUU commenced an industrial action on July 10, 2026, over two months of unpaid salary arrears, leading to the suspension of academic activities at the university.
