Chinese Investors Move to Revive Igumale Cement as ₦30bn Projects Transform Ado LGA
Chinese investors have initiated talks to revive the abandoned Igumale Cement Company in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, signalling renewed confidence driven by improved security in the area.
Chairman of the council, Hon. Oche Sunday Oche, said the development reflects growing investor interest as peace gradually returns to the once-troubled region.
“Investors are coming back because security has improved. Visitors are welcome to Ado anytime,” he said.
Oche disclosed that over ₦30 billion has been attracted to the local government since he assumed office, attributing the surge in development to Governor Hyacinth Alia’s security interventions and infrastructure drive.
He described Ado as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the administration’s policies.
“In terms of investment, Ado is among the most favoured local governments in Benue. We have recorded over ₦30 billion in projects,” he stated.
The projects, he said, cut across road construction, healthcare, and security.
The multi-billion naira Igumale–Agila Road is nearing completion, while a new five-kilometre road network worth over ₦6 billion is set to begin soon. Work is also ongoing on the Ojenyo–Wurukpo–Wurego access road.
To sustain peace, the chairman said his administration has boosted local security with operational vehicles, motorcycles, and solar streetlights installed across communities to deter crime.
Other interventions include the renovation of the council secretariat, provision of office furniture, and installation of solar-powered refrigerators in primary healthcare centres.
Oche expressed confidence that the improved security and steady infrastructure expansion will continue to attract investors and drive economic growth in Ado.
