STAFF WELFARE: AAUA VC OBAMUYI COMMENDS AIYEDATIWA’S INTERVENTION AS ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES RESUME
The campus of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has bubbled back to life with the resumption of normal academic and other activities, even as the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has again commended the Visitor to the institution and Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for meeting the financial and other needs of the University.
The Vice Chancellor recalled the over one billion Naira special bailout fund made available to offset salary arrears as well as the release of needed funds for the implementation of the agreements reached among the federal government and university unions which have led to the suspension of strike action by the unions.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the Vice Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the resumption of activities and thanked the Visitor for granting the wishes of the unions and restoring normalcy back to the university.
He added that the gestures showed the importance attached to education and human development by the state governor and the importance of securing the future of youths in the state and the generations after them.
Prof. Obamuyi pledged that with the resolution of union agitations, the university can now concentrate on its core mandates of manpower development and research, and turning out globally competitive graduates.
A tour of the university yesterday showed that students were trooping back to the campus and the classrooms, while academic and non-teaching staff were on the ground to attend to them.
A circular signed by the Registrar, Dr. Olubunmi Babalola, has notified all students of the suspension of industrial action and the commencement of the second semester examinations scheduled to begin from October 19.
