The outrageous fees for nomination forms of the major political parties have been condemned by a Senatorial Aspirant for Ondo Central Senatorial District on the platform of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hon. Seun Majasan.
Addressing newsmen in Akure, the Ondo state capital, Seun Majasan noted that the high nomination fees would prevent youth participation in politics.
According to him, the high fees will affect the “Not-Too-Young- to-Run’’ struggle.
Majasan said “the fees announced by the parties are seen to be highly prohibitive and unacceptable to Nigerian youths. It is not in the best interest of our democracy. This is most unfortunate and it will undermine our democracy if not checked.
“How do you expect Nigeria to be better? How do you expect corruption to end in this country? How won’t the people perceived as Thieves in Agbada not continue to crumble this country if ordinary nomination form to run for a political office in Nigeria goes for 40million naira? How do you expect a normal citizen of this dear country to afford 40million naira just for a form if not stolen money?
“How do you expect Youths to afford such outrageous amount of money just to contest, not to talk of primaries or campaign process? The good candidates who could better this country can’t afford to contest, leaving things down to the same old corrupt politicians, vultures and political vampires to continue bastardizing the country.
“We youths of this great country need to stand up against this nonsense, we need to end this outrageous billings called nomination form or whatever it is called. You can see the reason why APC and PDP need to be kicked out of power. That’s why I am saying to the great people of Nigeria to vote New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for your next Best Alternative Party Come 2023”, he maintained.
The Senatorial Hopeful however stressed that very soon, Nigerian youths will protest against this nonsensical term that says the rich shall continue to be richer while the poor continues to be poorer, saying “Nigeria is for everybody rich or poor and we must all have a say”.
“I am more than willing and ready to contest to represent my people at the red chambers come 2023 under the platform of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) so that I can be able to speak for the poor masses.
“We need to change things from the legislative arm which is the foundation of everything. If our laws are strong no politician would be able to do things anyhow. If our laws are strong, no politicians would be allowed to travel abroad for medical reasons not even the President, no children of the politicians would be allowed to study abroad. We created this mess and we must all stay here to fix it together, no head is meant to enjoy life while others is to suffer”, he added.
