EKITI ANGLICAN CHURCH SUSPENDS PRIEST OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL MISCONDUCT
A Vicar in Ekiti West Anglican Diocese, (names withheld) has been suspended for alleged sexual misconduct.
According to a source close to the church in Aramoko Archdeaconry, the suspension order was conveyed to the embattled priest through a letter from the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Revd. Cornelius Adagbada.
The letter, dated September 2, 2004, was signed by the Bishop and addressed to the Vicar.
It stated that “the Diocese frowns upon the alleged sexual misconduct, considering that such nefarious acts were causing worshippers to leave the church daily for other churches.”
Other allegations levelled against the suspended Anglican cleric include involvement in a scuffle with a church warden whose girlfriend he allegedly impregnated during one of his sexual escapades.
In addition, the suspended cleric was said to have had carnal knowledge of a teenager, also a member of the church, outside his marriage.
The source also added that the embattled Vicar was alleged to have been fond of making video recordings of his various nefarious activities with members of the church, and that one of these videos was recently leaked to the Bishop of the Diocese.
It will be recalled that the suspended Vicar was instrumental in the suspension of a former Bishop of the Diocese sometime in 2022.
Members of the church, who spoke on condition of anonymity regarding the matter, said they are pleased that the embattled Vicar, known for his sexual immorality, has finally been exposed.
Meanwhile, all text messages sent to the phone number of the embattled Anglican Vicar were not replied to, as his phone was switched off.
