ESO-OBE LCDA BOSS, BANKOLE AYENI BOOSTS FOOD SECURITY, EMPOWERS 115 FARMERS
In line with its commitment to agricultural development and food security, the Eso Obe Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has launched a comprehensive empowerment programme for farmers within the LCDA.
At the presentation of the farm inputs in Ikoro-Ekiti the council headquarters, the Chairman said the development is part of the efforts to encourage farmers and increase their yields.
Hon. Bankole Ayeni emphasized the significance of agriculture in Ekiti State’s economy describing the sector as the backbone of the economy as it provides providing livelihoods for millions.
“By supporting our farmers, we’re ensuring food security, job creation, and economic growth. This empowerment program is a testament to our dedication to agricultural development.”
“The program aims to:
– Increase crop yields
– Improve farm management
– Enhance farmers’ income
– Promote sustainable agriculture practices”.
“We are today distributing
– 5 bags of Maize seedlings
– 35 Cutlasses
– 4 Cartons of Cocoa pesticides
– 3 cartons of Herbicide
– 10 bags of Fertilizer
– 25 Sprayers”.
“Over 115 farmers from various communities in Eso Obe LCDA benefited from the programme”.
“The initiative is expected to:
– Boost food production by 30%
– Create 1,000 employment opportunities
– Stimulate local economic growth by 25%
– Improve living standards for 5,000 households”.

In his remarks, a community leader, High Chief Olasehinde Michael said
“We’re thankful for Eso Obe LCDA’s support. These tools will increase our yields and improve our livelihoods.”
He also applauded the chairman’s initiative to boost Agriculture in the LCDA.
