EKITI POLICE DISMISS OFFICER OVER DRUGS USE
The Ekiti State Police Command has dismissed Sergeant Osayingbemi Temitope after finding him culpable of misconduct linked to illicit drug use.
According to a press release issued by the command, the officer was caught on video behaving erratically in Ikole-Ekiti on 9 May 2026. He was immediately subjected to medical and psychological tests following the incident.
The psychological evaluation found the officer emotionally stable, but the medical test returned positive for tobacco and amphetamine. During further questioning, the officer admitted to taking illicit drugs.
After concluding internal disciplinary procedures, the command found the officer culpable and recommended dismissal. The recommendation was upheld, and the dismissal takes immediate effect.
The command said the Nigeria Police Force remains a disciplinary organisation and will not tolerate indiscipline, unprofessional conduct, or any act that could damage its image.
Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, urged officers to uphold discipline, professionalism, accountability, and integrity in carrying out their duty to protect lives and property.
