…As Delegation Of Senior Academics Pay Congratulatory Visit To Prof Obamuyi
A delegation of senior academics from the Department of Finance, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, on Friday, July 31, 2026, paid a congratulatory visit to the Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, to celebrate his appointment as the seventh substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.
The delegation led by the Head of the Department of Finance, EKSU, Prof. Bolanle Azeez, comprised five professors and a senior academic from the Department where Prof. Obamuyi began his academic career.
The visitors described the appointment as a landmark achievement not only for the Vice Chancellor, but for the Department of Finance and Ekiti State University, noting that it was the first time one of their own had risen to the position of Vice Chancellor.
Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Obamuyi expressed deepest appreciation for the thoughtful gesture, describing the visit as a demonstration of the enduring bond between him and his former colleagues.
He noted that the visit would further strengthen the cordial relationship between Adekunle Ajasin University and Ekiti State University, while thanking the team for finding time to identify with him at the commencement of his administration.
Speaking during the visit, the Head of the Department of Finance, EKSU, Prof. Bolanle Azeez, described Prof. Obamuyi as an exceptional administrator and a compassionate leader whose personality has positively impacted the lives of many colleagues and students.
According to her, the AAUA Vice Chancellor is widely respected for his punctuality, meticulous attention to detail, and genuine concern for the welfare of others. She added that he possesses an inclusive leadership style, carries everyone along in decision making, and is admired for his discipline, professionalism, and personal neatness.
Also speaking, Prof. Anthony Adaramola recalled that the Vice Chancellor distinguished himself as an exceptional student of the institution during its days as Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, before returning to AAUA as an academic in the Department of Finance, where he steadily rose through the ranks to attain the pinnacle of the profession.
Prof. Adaramola stated that Prof. Obamuyi’s appointment represents a source of immense pride to the department, adding that his remarkable academic journey, commitment to excellence, and exemplary leadership have continued to inspire generations of scholars.
He further noted that the Vice Chancellor had mentored several academics that eventually attained the rank of professor, describing his contributions to the growth and development of the university system as invaluable.
Prof. Adaramola identified brilliance, diligence, and integrity as the defining attributes that distinguish the new VC. He explained that Prof Obamuyi distinguished himself academically as one of the best graduating students in his class, a feat that earned him immediate employment as a Graduate Assistant.
He further remarked that through unwavering dedication and hard work, Prof. Obamuyi rose steadily through the academic ranks to become a professor before assuming the office of Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University.
According to him, his reputation for honesty, transparency, and unwavering integrity has earned him widespread respect within and beyond the academic community.
Other members of the Delegation are Prof. Steven Adelusi, Prof. Lawrence Ajayi, Prof. Lukman Suleiman and Dr. Foluso Ajayi.
