AKADIRI FAMILY ANNOUNCES TRANSITION OF FORMER ONDO INFORMATION DIRECTOR, HERBERT OLAJIDE AKADIRI
The Akadiri Family has announced in a statement issued in Akure, the passing of Mr. Herbert Olajide Akadiri, a retired Director of Information Services in the Ondo State Ministry of Information and Orientation, who died on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, after a brief illness.
Late Mr. Akadiri was an accomplished public servant, seasoned information manager and one of the pioneering officers who played a significant role in laying the foundation for the Ondo State Ministry of Information and Orientation.
Mr. Akadiri dedicated several decades of his life to the service of Ondo State, distinguishing himself through exemplary professionalism, integrity, diligence, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of public communication and government information management.
Until his retirement in December 2010 as Director, Information Services, he remained one of the most respected officers in the public service, earning the admiration of colleagues and stakeholders for his competence, humility, and dedication to duty.
As a member of the first generation of personnel in the Ministry, the late Akadiri made invaluable contributions to its growth, institutional development, and operational effectiveness, helping to shape the information architecture of the State during his years of active service.
“His years in public service were characterized by commitment, professionalism, and an enduring passion for excellence.
He devoted a substantial part of his life to the development of the Ministry and the Ondo State Public Service, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication that will continue to inspire future generations,” the statement said.
The family expressed gratitude to God for an accomplished and impactful life and appreciated friends, former colleagues, associates, and well-wishers for their prayers, sympathy, and support during this period of bereavement.
According to a statement signed by Williams Olufunmi, the Akadiri Family further disclosed that consultations regarding funeral arrangements are ongoing and that details of the burial programme will be announced in due course.
Late Mr. Herbert Olajide Akadiri is remembered as a devoted family man, consummate professional, mentor, and distinguished public servant whose contributions to the information sector and public administration in Ondo State remain indelible.
