DR TUNDE IBITEYE FACILITATES FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH FOR EKINRIN-ADE RESIDENTS
…As Medical Practitioner Collaborates With Medical Initiative For Africa
Dr. Tunde Ibiteye, in collaboration with Medical Initiative for Africa organised a comprehensive two-day free medical outreach programme for residents of Ekinrin-Adde Community, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This was held on 25th and 26th September, 2026.
The outreach was designed to provide accessible healthcare services, promote preventive health awareness, facilitate early detection of common health conditions, and provide medical interventions to members of the community who otherwise face challenges accessing specialised healthcare.
The first day of the programme focused primarily on health education and medical screening for early detection and treatment.
Highlights of the event include:
1. Creation of awareness for the prevention and early detection of breast and prostate cancers, with ultrasound scan of breast and prostate.
2. Screening of adults for cataracts and hernia.
3. Screening, counselling and treatment support for hypertensive and diabetic patients.
4. Deworming with vitamin A supplimentation in children and treatment of malaria in both children and adults alike.
The first day strengthened awareness for preventive healthcare while identifying conditions that may require further medical attention or surgical intervention.
The second day focused primarily on surgical interventions for patients identified and medically assessed during the screening exercise.
The interventions include free cataract and Hernia surgeries for eligible patients diagnosed with cataract and hernia respectively.
There was also distribution of free reading glasses.
All surgical interventions were subject to appropriate medical assessment and eligibility by the attending medical team.
The Ekinrin-Adde medical outreach represents one of several initiatives being championed by Dr. Tunde Ibiteye as part of his commitment to giving back to his community and making meaningful contributions to the wellbeing of the people at the grassroot levels.
The initiative is designed as a broader healthcare programme that will extend beyond Ekinrin-Adde to communities across Ijumu Local government, with Ekinrin-Adde serving as the first point of call.
The broader objective is to bring basic medical screening, preventive healthcare education and appropriate treatment closer to residents, particularly people who may have limited access to specialised medical services.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr Tunde Ibiteye emphasised that healthcare remains an important pillar of community development.
He said “early prevention, accurate diagnosis and timely intervention can significantly improve health outcomes.”
The collaboration between Dr. Tunde Ibiteye and Medical Initiative for Africa is therefore expected to provide not only immediate medical assistance but also an opportunity to encourage greater health awareness and a culture of regular medical screening within the communities.
Residents of Ekinrin-Adde community are advised to be intentional in participation when such opportunity arises.
