EKITI APC LEADER, DELE PHILIPS ENDORSES OYEBANJI FOR SECOND TERM, REFLECTS ON GOVERNOR’S ACHIEVEMENTS
A former House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Dele Philips has joined the list of political leaders endorsing Governor Biodun Oyebanji for another term.
Philips who contested the last Ekiti Central federal constituency 2 seat in the green chambers hinges his decision on the various achievements being recorded by the governor in all sectors of the economy.
The party leader who spoke in a statement signed by his media aide, Iyiola Adetola and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti emphasized that the Oyebanji administration has succeeded in rekindling the hope of the people in democratic structures.
According to him, the governor and his team are not only initiating new ideas that are capable of improving the socio-economic and political existence of the people but also ensuring that projects embarked upon by past administration are completed.
The Aramoko-Ekiti-born businessman made reference to the recently inaugurated Ajebandele-Deeper Life-Omisanjana road project spanning over 9 kilometers which he said had been a long- time of the residents as well as motorists plying the area.
In his words, “the completion of the project will open our State capital to further expansion, reduce travel time, alleviate commuters’ stress, and enhance connectivity”.
“The fact that the project was commenced by Dr. Kayode Fayemi administration and completed by the present administration justifies the continuity we clamoured for when Governor Oyebanji was campaigning to be considered for the assignment”, Philips stressed.
Philips who described the ongoing construction of Ijigbo -Okeyinmi flyover project as a great component of the urban renewal dream of the Oyebanji administration urged residents and motorists to cooperate with the contractors as the project would add more value to the state among others in the country while economic activities would also receive a boost when the project is completed.
The APC leader also said the ongoing construction of ring roads at strategic towns across the state would continue to be a reference point as work is also in progress on Ikere-Ekiti-Igbara-Odo and Ikere-Ekiti-Ilawe roads, saying the development would reduce hardship being faced by residents and road users while the projects would boost socio-economic activities and also connect the neighbouring towns that had hitherto being cut off from one another.
While justifying his endorsement and call for a second term for the governor, the party leader emphasised that tourism has received a boost with overhauling of the renowned Ikogosi Warm Spring that has continued to play host to tourists globally as the governor gives adequate support to the sector , thereby becoming the number one tourist destination in the country.
The former reps aspirant described the determination of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to improve on power supply to the state as encouraging, noting the installation of 3.5MW Independent Power Plant to boost power generation in in the state.
In terms of human empowerment and wealth creation, Dele Philips commended the governor for payment of arrears of salaries owed civil servants while retirees who had been waiting for their entitlements were paid within a short period that the governor assumed office.
He said the recent working visit of the governor to the United States is another confirmation of his high degree of determination to change the orientation of the state as a civil service one to an industrialised one.
“Governor Oyebanji, in the course of the working visit to America, had extensive talks with some heads of governments and institutions, business leaders and development partners, exploring investment opportunities for the state’s power infrastructure, the Special Agriculture Processing Zone and the Ekiti Knowledge Zone, among others.”
“These were outside his participation in the US-Africa Business Summit and the signing of MOU with CAVISTA Holdings for a multi billion naira 100,000 hectares cassava farm in the state,” Dele Philips stated.
The APC leader also described the recent inauguration of the Adire Ekiti Hub, MSMEs Clinic and other projects by the Vice President as part of the reasons the governor must be given another chance to run a second term in office.
This he emphasized would play great roles in enabling Governor Biodun Oyebanji consolidate on his achievements as well as making Ekiti State a cynosure of all eyes.
