GLITZ, GLAMOUR AS FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES CELEBRATE MRS OLAYEMI MONILARI AT 60
… Event Coincides With Ondo SUBEB Director’s Retirement From Public Service
It was a celebration of meritorious service as family, friends and stakeholders in the education sector gathered to celebrate Director, Teacher Professional Development in the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs Olayemi Comfort Monilari as she bows out of service.
The event held at Mega Primary School, Iro in the state capital, had in attendance top officials of the board led by the Permanent Secretary, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole,PhD.
The Alagbaka Extension Landlords Association members were also led to the event by the Chairman, Hon. Fred Ojo.
The occasion created an opportunity for the retired Director to acknowledge the staff and the Ondo State government for the support received over the years.
In her speech, Mrs Monilari assured that she would keep providing necessary support anytime the need arises.
She urged stakeholders in the education sector to continue to justify the confidence reposed in them by both government and the people, noting that their inputs would determine the standard of the society in future.
“You were partners in purpose. Together we carried burdens, made decisions and built legacies that will outlive us. Thank you for your love and support at all times”.
“My dear TPD family, you are my pride. To my Deputy Director, Assistant Directors, Desk Officers and all support staff, you made the Director’s office a home. You’re wonderful and hardworking colleagues”.
“To Ondo State Teachers, you’re my first love. Galatians 6:9″ says Let us not grow weary of doing good. You are the reason I never retired from my Heart. I have sat in your classrooms during training, during monitoring”.
“I have seen your tears and dedication. You are nation builders in chalk and compassion. Never allow anyone to tell you that you are just a teacher. Without you there will be no Doctors, Engineers, Judges or Governors. Teacher Professional Development Unit was created to serve you”.
“If my tenure added value to even one teacher’s practice, then my years were not wasted.
My years as Director TPD taught me three things:
* Capacity is destiny.
A teacher who refused to learn will produce learners who cannot compete.
* Data does not lie.
We moved from guesswork to evidence.
* People are the real project.
Structures, laptops and manuals will rust. But a teacher who is Inspired will transform 50 children every year. Invest in people first”.
While also acknowledging the children and her family, especially the husband, Captain(Dr) Monilari(Rtd), Mrs. Olayemi Comfort Monilari described the support from home as a great encouragement while in service.
“To my Crown, My father, My friend, the love of my life, my darling husband, the only one that understands me, Ambassador Dr. Monilari Abayomi, the AKONI OODUA AGBEPARAPO.
I owe you endless gratitude for providing an enabling environment for me to function and be passionate about my success throughout my service years”.
“I cannot thank you enough. You are more than a million, an outstanding husband, a man of substance that stood through thick and thin. The only one that understands my smile, tears, pains, fears and joy. You carried the home so I could carry the office”.
Speaking with newsmen, the husband, Captain(Dr) Abayomi Monilari reflected on the celebrant’s commitment and determination to ensure her roles are felt in shaping the education sector in the state.
He appreciated the Ondo State Government for creating an enabling environment for workers to function in various capacities, expressing the hope that such would be sustained and also improved upon.
