GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA CELEBRATES DEJI, AKURE COMMUNITY AT ANNUAL ULEFUNTA FESTIVAL
The location was the Democracy Park in Akure where indigenes from far and near as well as friends of the community gathered to celebrate the annual Ulefunta festival.
The celebrants led by the traditional ruler, the Deji, Oba Ogunlade Aladelusi dressed in various Yoruba traditional attire with enthusiasm to witness this year’s celebration.
The Ondo State Governor, Hon.(Dr) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti who is also a prominent indigene of the ancient town described the festival as an identity of the ancient town and the people.
Aiyedatiwa felicitated His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, CFR, the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom and the entire sons and daughters of Akure Kingdom on the occasion of this year’s celebration.
The Governor said Ulefunta is not just a festival but identity of Akure people, noting that it is a season of thanksgiving, reflection, and spiritual rebirth that marks the end of one traditional year and the beginning of another.
Aiyedatiwa commended the Deji and the indigenes for maintaining peace and assured that his administration would continue to put in place policies that would make Akure the envy of other state capitals in the country.
He said the Adegbola-St. Mathias Flyover being constructed
would not only add more aesthetic value to the state capital but also improve the economy.
The governor assured that the project would be completed as scheduled, noting that all processes have been put in place to ensure that due process is followed.
In his remarks, the Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi appreciated Akure indigenes both home and abroad for their contributions and support in making the day a reality.
The traditional ruler also commended the giant strides being recorded by the Aiyedatiwa administration the area of infrastructure and human development.
