By Adetunji Adeniyi
Akure, the beautiful capital of Ondo State is experiencing real urban renewal like never before!
In less than two years in office, His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he is an INFRASTRUCTURE GIANT whose performance is second to none.
Where others made promises, Governor Aiyedatiwa has delivered roads.
Where there were gridlock and potholes, he brought ease of movement, beauty and modern infrastructure.
The transformation is visible across the length and breadth of the capital city that used to be a linear route without adjoining or interconnecting access roads.
Today, Akure has witnessed tremendous facelift.
The flag-off and ongoing construction of 2.38km historic legacy flyover (94-span Flyover) from Adegbola Junction through Ojaoba, Adegbemile to St. Mathias/NNPC, Alagbaka along the Oyemekun-Oba Adesida Road corridor is an intervention.
This strategic legacy project will end decades of traffic congestion in Akure’s main commercial and administrative artery. It is the heartbeat of our economy!
Moreover, the massive road reconstruction and Rehabilitation across the the capital city is commendannle .
The Aiyedatiwa administration has completed and commissioned critical inner roads that were hitherto abandoned for years, including Ajegunle Road, Odopetu-Oke Padi-Lao Road, Gbangbalogun-Odole-Odi Olowo Road, Bye-pass-Gbogi Street, UBA Road-The Stream, Oja Oshodi Road, SK Bright Road, Ayetoro Road, Akosile Road, Maronu Road, Plaza Road, Bishop’s Court-Civil Service Commission Road, Government House-CBN Road, Igoba Township Road, FUTA South Gate Road, Alagbaka Extension-SIB Road, Ajipowo and Afunbiowo Estate Roads and many more.
The ongoing dualization for economic expansion of 10-km Oke Aro-Idanre Dual Carriageway, 7.7-km Akure-Ijare Road, 15.5-km Akure -Imafon Road, 8-km Akure-Oda -Cocoa board Road are opening up Akure for massive economic expansion and investment.
In total, over 101-km of road projects have been approved and are being executed across the State, with Akure as the major beneficiary under the “OUR EASE” Agenda.
Governor Aiyedatiwa is not just building roads; he is building the economy, connecting communities, reducing vehicle operational costs, increasing property values, creating jobs and restoring pride to Akure residents.
It is no surprise that His Imperial Majesty, the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II and all well-meaning residents have commended this people-oriented and purposeful governance.
Indeed, Akure has never had it so good. The urban renewal is visible, verifiable and still ongoing.
