OAU HONOURS ALUMNUS PASTOR(PROF) ANTHONY ADEGBULUGBE WITH AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
… Authorities Hail Ondo-born Energy Expert For Outstanding Contributions To Varsity’s Growth and Development
The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State has honoured distinguished alumnus and a record holder, Pastor (Prof) Anthony Adegbulugbe with an Award of Excellence.
This was part of the events to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the outstanding tertiary institution in Nigeria and beyond.
The Award of Excellence is also part of the reflection on the theme of the celebrations tagged, “Honouring the Past, Engineering the Future”.
Presenting the award to Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe at the grand finale of the celebrations in Ile-Ife, the Chairman of Council and Pro-Chancellor, Rt. Hon. Adejare Bello said the honour bestowed on the Ondo-born energy expert is well deserved considering his impact on the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and beyond.
Rt. Hon. Bello who was also Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly said Prof Adegbulugbe has not only been a great ambassador of the tertiary institution in his chosen career and the academics but also in the vineyard as Chairman of District Coordinating Council of the Christ Apostolic Church.
In his comment, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire also acknowledged the contributions of the awardee to the growth and development of the tertiary institution as well as her students.
In his reaction, Pastor(Prof) Anthony Adegbulugbe said the honour is a challenge to do more and keep impacting positively on the lives of individuals, institutions and the nation in general.
He assured that his priority was puke continue to be raising a new generation of leaders, expressing the hope that the would eventually become the envy of other countries despite the challenges being faced.
Born on April 2nd 1955, Prof Anthony Adegbulugbe whose parents hail from Ondo City in Ondo State had his secondary education at Loyola College, Ibadan where he passed with distinction.
The Chairman of Green Energy International Limited the operator of Otakikpo Marginal Field in Andoni local government area of Rivers State proceeded to the University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he studied Electrical/Electronics Engineering and graduates with B.Sc(Hon) Electrical engineering(first class) with a Grade Point Average of 5.0 on a scale of 5.0 in June 1976, a feat only few have matched.
For his Post-Graduate education, he bagged university scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States of America and obtained a D.Sc in Nuclear Materials Engineering, minor programme in Energy Planning and Management in June 1981.
Prof Adegbulugbe’s company, Green Energy International Limited built the first ever Indigenous Onshore Crude Oil Terminal in Nigeria after fifty years of relying on the ones constructed by the multi-nationals.
