Your Excellency,
_President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR_
President, Federal Republic of Nigeria
Aso Villa, Abuja
Your Excellency Sir,
I write with deep respect for your office and sincere loyalty to the All Progressives Congress.
Sir, your directive was clear: State Governors, as leaders of the party in their states, should oversee the APC primary process. That was obeyed. Primaries for Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly were conducted across Nigeria almost one month ago.
The presidential primary gave us the standard. It was transparent, peaceful, and the result came out the same day. Nigerians and APC members celebrated that example.
One month later, results for the legislative primaries remain unannounced in most states. This delay is causing damage we cannot afford:
_1. Trust is breaking_
Votes without results create doubt. In every ward today, members are asking one question: “Did our votes count?” When members stop believing in the process, the party loses its foundation.
_2. Rumors of money and manipulation_
Across states, aspirants allege money is being demanded to “influence” outcomes. A widely circulated audio recording attributed to a senior party official claims that “winning a primary does not guarantee a ticket because names can be changed.” If true, then primaries are just for show. If false, silence allows the lie to spread.
_3. 2027 is at risk_
Your Excellency, you know the politics. A man or woman who feels cheated at the primary will not campaign at the general election. Multiply that pain across 36 states. APC’s votes will drop, and the opposition will gain from our internal wounds. We must not repeat the mistakes of 2015 and 2019 in some states.
Consensus is allowed where it is genuine and agreed by all stakeholders. But where primaries were held, the will of the people must be respected. Results must be published.
_My humble appeal, Your Excellency:_
1. Direct the APC National Working Committee to compel all state chapters to publish verified primary results within 72 hours.
2. Order an internal review of all allegations of financial inducement and threats to substitute winners’ names.
3. Publicly reaffirm that the APC ticket belongs to the candidate chosen by party members, in line with the Electoral Act 2022 and our party constitution.
Sir, you built APC on internal democracy. The presidential primary proved we can be fast, fair, and united. Let the Senate, House of Reps, and Assembly primaries meet that same standard. We will harvest in 2027 what we plant today.
A strong party is a fair party. _
I remain your loyal party member and a believer in the Renewed Hope agenda. May God grant you wisdom as you lead Nigeria and APC to victory.
Respectfully,
Joy Allwell
