ONDO CONCLUDES PLAN TO CONSTRUCT SIX NEW HOSPITALS ACROSS THREE SENATORIAL DISTRICTS
…As Health Commissioner Banji Ajaka Says Contractors Moved To Site Ahead Official Flag Off
The Ondo State Government has concluded plans to construct six new hospitals in the three senatorial districts.
In an exclusive interview with the Commissioner for Health, Dr Banji Ajaka, the six new modern health facilities would be constructed in the premises of the existing hospitals.
According to him, a 100-bedded facility valued at 3billion raira each would be constructed in Ikare-Akoko, Ore and Okitipupa.
Dr. Ajaka said 50-bedded facilities would be constructed in Igbokoda and Irele while 100-bedded facility would be put in place at the Neuropsychiatric hospital on Oda road in Akure the state capital.
While noting that the contracts have been awarded just as contractors have also moved to the sites.
He said plans are already underway for the official flag off of the projects.
The Commissioner who stressed that the Aiyedatiwa administration is already working with relevant international organisations to make the new hospitals the best of its kind in the country.
In his words, this development is part of the
efforts of the Aiyedatiwa administration to boost healthcare delivery as well as achieving the much required universal health coverage”.
The government is working with appropriate stakeholders in the process of achieving of the major components of the”Our Ease” agenda as designed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa”, Ajaka emphasized.
While noting that part of the structures and processes being put in place include recruitment and training of bio-medical engineers, the Commissioner said the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Ondo would be equipped with modern facilities.
Facilities to be put in place to boost the capacity of the tertiary institution include Mammography, CT Scan, Magnetic Resonant Imaging, Digital X-ray, 4-D Ultra Sound and Complete Opthalmology equipment.
