The Ondo State Government through the Commissioner for Energy, Mines and Mineral Resources, Engr. Razaq Obe, has advised the management of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BDEC) to commence the process of metering energy consumers across the state .
Playing host to the Management of BEDC operating its Ondo and Ekiti States’ offices, in Akure, the Honourable Commissioner said he has for sometimes now been inundated with series of protests against BEDC for its unending estimated billing policy which the people have found to be outrageous.
Engineer Obe therefore advised the power distribution company to commence the process of providing prepaid meters for all power consumers in the state to stem the current hardship being experienced by some resident.
In her response, BEDC Head Customer Service for Ondo and Ekiti States, Mrs. Kunbi Labiyi said efforts were being intensified by the company to ensure that no consumer complains of its mode of billing again.
While commending the Honourable Commissioner for his salutary mediation between BEDC and people of the state, Mrs Labiyi assured that BEDC prepaid meters will soon be rolled out across Ondo State.
