TACKLING INSECURITY: ONDO INAUGURATES SAFE SCHOOL STEERING COMMITTEE
In the bid to prevent attacks on schools in Ondo State, the government has inaugurated a steering committee on safe schools .
The committee has the commissioner for education, Professor Igbekele Ajibefun as chairman with the ministry’s permanent secretary , Dr Akindele Ige as Secretary
Members of the committee include Security Chiefs in the State, representatives of Christians Association, Muslim community, PTA, among others.
Addressing the members, Professor Ajibefun explained that the initiative was from the federal government to secure schools following growing insecurity especially in learning environments .
He pointed out that education could only thrive in an environment where learners and teachers feel safe and protected.
Professor Ajibefun encouraged members of the committee to discharge their duties with diligence, commitment, integrity and a strong sense of purpose
Earlier, the committee’s secretary, Dr Ige emphasized on safeguarding the future of children through effective collaboration, policy guidance, early warning mechanisms, risk mitigation strategies and coordinated response systems.
