Ondo State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector through improved welfare for medical personnel, recruitment of more doctors and renovation of primary healthcare centres across the state.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa spoke on Friday in Akure during the 49th Annual General Meeting and scientific conference of the Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association(NMA).
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, he said that his administration has consistently engaged stakeholders in the health sector to address challenges facing healthcare delivery.
According to him, complaints from healthcare professionals have been given prompt attention through sustained dialogue, leading to noticeable improvements in the sector.
“There has been a lot of dialogue and a lot of improvement in the healthcare sector. It is not yet perfect, but things are getting better,” he said.
He listed some of the government’s interventions to include the recruitment of more doctors, improved remuneration for house officers and other junior medical workers, as well as the renovation of primary healthcare centres across the state.
