YPP PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT, COMRADE JULIUS FILANI HOLDS CONSULTATIVE MEETING WITH SOUTHWEST STAKEHOLDERS
…As Southwest Chairmen Gather In Ibadan For Regional Summit
Comrade Julius Olajide Filani has held a consultative meeting with Southwest stakeholders in Ibadan on May 9, 2026, during the Young Progressives Party (YPP) Southwest Summit.
The meeting had in attendance the State Chairmen of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, and Osun states, alongside Ekiti State’s representative and DG of the campaign, Comrade Owoola Daramola, and the Zonal Chairman.
In his address, the presidential aspirant recounted over two decades of compassionate and philanthropic service. He noted that the more he worked to alleviate people’s struggles, the more he realized the depth of the challenges facing Nigerians. “I had a dream, and God told me to go to the centre,” he said, declaring his resolve to lead the people against tyranny, oppression, corruption, economic hardship, and systemic injustice.
His message centered on restoring dignity, accountability, and opportunity to governance.
Filani outlined his key policy priorities:
– *Agriculture*: Transform the sector through mechanization, irrigation, and agro-processing to achieve food security, create jobs, and empower rural communities.
– *Education*: Rebuild and modernize the education system with better infrastructure, teacher welfare, and technology-driven learning to prepare Nigerian youth for the future.
– *Security*: Strengthen the nation’s borders and internal security by deploying modern surveillance and constructing fortified barriers across vulnerable territories to curb insurgency, banditry, and cross-border crime.
The Zonal Chairman, *Hon. Oluwole Britto*, commended Filani’s commitment and determination, stating that the Southwest caucus of the YPP would work collectively to ensure he emerges as the party’s flagbearer.
*Adeyemi Adedeji*, the Oyo State Chairman, noted that he had never witnessed such unity and purpose among Southwest leaders, describing the summit as a turning point for the party in the region.
*Kafayat Seidat*, the Lagos State YPP Chairperson, expressed delight at the aspirant’s disposition and resolve. She stated categorically that all hands must be on deck to ensure Filani wins the party primaries, and urged him to embark on aggressive membership mobilization to strengthen the YPP’s grassroots base across the Southwest.
*Comrade Owoola Daramola*, DG of the campaign organization and Ekiti State representative, confirmed that all preparations have been finalized. He stated that the aspirant is set to proceed to the party’s national headquarters in Abuja to obtain the expression of interest and nomination forms, and is fully prepared to contest and win the YPP presidential primary.
The summit closed with a renewed sense of unity and a shared commitment to position the YPP as a credible alternative for Nigerians in 2027.
