LAWYER ADU-PETERS FROWNS AT EXCLUSION OF IRUN-OGBAGI-IKARE-AKOKO ROADS IN RECENTLY APPROVED PROJECTS BY TINUBU
… Charges FEC Members, Legislators From The Area To Ensure Robust Representation
A community leader and legal practitioner from Irun-Akoko in Akoko Northwest local government area, Olusegun Adu-Peters, Esq has frowned at the exclusion of Irun-Ogbagi-Ikare-Akoko road in the list of projects recently approved for construction by President Bola Tinubu.
The public analyst expressed disappointment that despite that the affected local government areas parade prominent appointees in the federal executive council, the area was not captured in the numerous huge contracts awarded by the president.
Adu-Peters also wondered the place of the legislators from the areas both at the house of representatives and the Senate as regards lobbying for social infrastructure for their people.
In a statement signed by him and made available to newsmen in Akure the state capital, the legal practitioner called on the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele and his Interior Ministry counterpart, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to close ranks to justify the confidence reposed in them by the people.
He also charged the legislators representing the areas in both the House of Representatives and the Senate to ensure that the people feel a sense of robust representation as the state of the road has crippled the socio-economic activities in the area, expressing fear that the state of the road would keep feeling the high degree of insecurity being experienced in the country.
In his words, “one wonders why the absolute neglect of Irun-Ogbagi-Ikare- Akoko Federal Road by the Federal Government despite the fact that some of our prominent sons hold laudable and vantage positions in the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu-led Government.”
“How can we be at a disadvantage in the construction of roads across the Southwest geo-political zone in Nigeria?”, Adu-Peters queried.
“This calls for political concern and consultation with the political bigwigs particularly in Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo State.”
“It seems Irun-Ogbagi-Ikare- Akoko road from the Imesi-Ekiti axis is ‘ostracised’ among the Federal Roads in Nigeria.”
“This is a clarion call on the Honourable Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele and Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to speedily and urgently come to our aid.”
“Our Federal Representatives at both the House of Representatives and Senate are not doing enough.”
“There should have been synergy of efforts between the two sister-states(Ondo & Ekiti) but it seems Ekiti State Federal Representatives in the parliament are more proactive than their counterparts in the Akoko North area of Ondo State who to me are very docile and this docility makes them sleep away in the parliament only to awake when there is call for secondment and adjournment of motion respectively.”
“What happened recently through the exclusion of Irun-Ogbagi-Ikare-
Akoko Federal road is a testimony to this fact.”
“Legislative activities at the hallowed chamber are all inclusive and no Federal Government Project of this pivotal initiative will not be discussed at the House Committee level and for Ekiti State to have their roads in the appropriation list, it goes to say that our Representatives at both green and red chambers have lost focus of lobbying which is the fibre of getting things done through convincing persuasion of fellows colleagues on the need include ones projects in the appropriation lists.”
“It is incumbent on our Federal Representatives to use their good offices of worthy and good representation by doing the needful by working hand-in-hand with our ever-ready Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele and Interior Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who are to speak eloquently on our behalf at the Federal Executive Council whenever any developmental project is brought for execution on behalf of Akoko.”
“Historically, we have never had it so good in our local government area and even the state to have two ministers from the same local government area.”
“I pray to God in His mercy to avert this jinx and wipe off our shortcomings by the precious blood of Jesus Christ.”
“How can we be in control of good and sweet oranges only to be plucked and served with seville, bigarade and sour ones”, Adu-Peters wondered.
“The right time to utilise the advantage of Federal might in terms of developmental projects for our people in Akoko is now when we are divinely blessed with genius sons as ministers because opportunity comes but once and nothing lasts forever”, the legal practitioner added.
“Eti oba nile, eti Oba loko eniyan lonje bee. Please let this catch the attention of our beloved leaders”.
