ODUNARO, AKINMADE TO LEAD OGUN APC GOVERNORSHIP CAMPAIGN MEDIA COMMITTEE
The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed veteran journalist and Media Adviser to the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, Chief Kayode Odunaro, as Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of its Governorship Campaign Council.
The party also appointed the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, as Vice Chairman of the committee.
The appointments bring two highly experienced journalists and public communication strategists to the helm of the party’s media and publicity machinery ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Odunaro, a veteran journalist with over three decades of experience in journalism, government and public service, has served as Chief Press Secretary to three former Ogun State governors — Captain Sam Ewang (rtd.), Commodore Kayode Olofinmoyin (rtd.) and Chief Olusegun Osoba.
He also served as Special Adviser on Communications to the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole, at the National Assembly.
Odunaro currently serves as Media Adviser and Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi.
Akinmade brings extensive experience in journalism, government communication and public administration to the committee.
A former editor with the Nigerian Tribune, Akinmade served as Special Adviser on Media to the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole, from 2007 to 2010, before subsequently serving two terms as Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Ondo State under the administration of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko. He also served as Supervising Commissioner for Culture and Tourism during the administration.
Akinmade currently serves as Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy.
The appointments are expected to give the APC Governorship Campaign Council a formidable media and public communication structure, with the committee responsible for driving the party’s campaign messaging, publicity and engagement with the media and the wider public ahead of the 2027 election.
