ONDO TO SET UP DATA COLLATION TEAM TO TRACK DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS IN 18 LGAs
…As Commissioner for LG and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro Hails Council Bosses For Complimenting Aiyedatiwa Administration
The Ondo State Government has taken decisions to set up a data collation team for projects assessment in the 18 local government areas of the state.
This is part of the process to ensure overall development of tge rural areas with focus on proper execution of projects in the third tier of government.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro during a media chat with newsmen in his office Monday.
The commissioner emphasized that the committee which would be inaugurated by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa would be headed by council bosses while traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders would be involved.
In his words, “seasonal projects must be duly monitored to ensure that they are properly executed as the data collation would cover all sectors of the economy with priority on projects and policies that would have direct impact on the people at the grassroots”.
“Mr Governor is confident that having a development plan would go a long way in fast-tracking the much required development of the land and the people”.
“It is also part of the strategy of this present administration to reduce rural-urban migration by providing basic amenities of life in those areas”, Takuro said.
Alhaji Amidu Takuro used the opportunity to inform the gentlemen of the press on the various developments being witnessed across the local government areas.
The commissioner who just concluded inspection of projects across the 18 local government areas said projects carried out by the council chairmen from Akoko Southeast in the northern senatorial district to Ese-Odo in the southern part reflect the”Our Ease” agenda of the Aiyedatiwa administration.
According to him, the local government chairmen have put in place new market stalls, shopping complexes to boost economic activities in the areas while provision of solar-powered street lights was given a priority.
While giving a run-down of the projects in the 18 LGAs, Alhaji Takuro commended the council chairmen for keying into the “Our Ease” agenda of the Aiyedatiwa administration.
Speaking further, the commissioner stated that the 60-year-old Mapo Hall in Owo has also been given a facelift, noting that numerous structures located within the premises housing one government office or the other were also affected by the renovation.
Other projects include the construction of modern shopping complex at the popular Mojere spare parts market located within the Ilesa-Motorpark on Oyemekun road in Akure.
For the people of Ilaje local government area whose children have been facing challenges of writing annual UTME due to lack of CBT centers, the council has embarked on construction of a 200-capacity CBT center instead of traveling to Okitipupa local government for JAMB examinations.
Other projects carried out include provision of accommodation for corps members in Irele local government and ongoing construction of legislative building in Ode-Aye.
The commissioner assured that the Aiyedatiwa administration would continue to partner all relevant agencies towards delivering dividends of democracy to the people at the third tier of government.
