OGBEDUN by Astrocraft Productions is a story of misery, strife, bravery and triumph!
Upon the demise of the monarch, OBA Agana, the mantle of succession fell upon the illustrious Shobalaje family, which, constituting one of the five distinguished ruling lineages, proceeded to anoint the most youthful scion of their venerable lineage as the new sovereign, hoping for a long reign.
Unfortunately, their hope was cut short, as the youthful monarch died within a few months, thereby throwing the town into a turmoil by sparkling a frenzied scramble for the coveted throne.
Leveraging their prodigious affluence and political influence, the Shobalajes family, again, maneuvered their their way and successfully influence the kingmakers to crown Oba Baderin, one of their progeny.
Nevertheless, the Akinlalu family, laying a legitimate claim as the designated rightful successors in accordance with the established hereditary lineage, refused to yield their birth right. They steadfastly persist in their bid for the throne.
Bolstered by the ardent support of the indignant villagers and Oba Nla, particularly the unwavering allegiance of Adeyemi, a scion of the Akinlalu kin, the familial claimant ultimately ascended to the illustrious throne following Baderin’s abdication after a massive riot broke out.
As the scintillating plot unfolds, amidst intriguing ritualistic tradition emerges an essential custom that mandates the ceremonial ritual of serving a portion of the departed monarch’s remains to the newly anointed sovereign while ensconced in seclusion (ipebi).
Alas, Baderin’s tainted deposition status precluded the consecration of his earthly body for the venerable rite to befittingly sanctify the anointment of the promising Adeyemi, leading unavoidably to the untimely demise of Adeyemi and countless other aspirants who seek the cherished throne
In a striking twist of fate, Ogbedun, an offspring of Oba Agana, sired from an ilLicit union with a palace maid, whose mother suffered the tragic fate of being exiled, resurfaces as a beacon of of light and redemption, navigating the complex labyrinth of destiny with the divine assistance from Afobaje Famoroti.
