TENSION IN OLORUNDA LCDA, BADAGRY LAGOS OVER ALLEGED PRY ELECTION MANIPULATION
Tension is mounting in Olorunda Local Council Development Authority in Badagry, Lagos State over alleged manipulation of local government primary election in the state.
The leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in the area took to the streets in the area to protest what they call fraudulent practices in the recently held local government primary election in the state.
According to the party leaders led by Hon. Jide Olaiya wondered why the candidate who did not win the election was announced a day after the election contrary to what actually happened on election day.
According to the placard-carrying protesters, the council went to the primary election with 21 delegates while 18 leaders including the woman leader, party chairman and other leaders voted in favour of Idris Ade Balogun.
The argued that 5 other delegates voted for two other candidates out of 11 contestants.
The party leaders wondered why Peter Kumayan who scored only 4 votes was eventually announced the following day.
The protesters were at the State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress on Sunday and again on Monday to demand that the mandate of Idris Ade Balogun that was stolen be returned.
They called on President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to wade into the matter which they said is capable of affecting the future of the party in the state.
In an interview with another party leader, Hon. Dare Setonji Babatunde, he described the development as unfair to the numerous supporters of the party who came out to support Ade Balogun.
