The Ondo State Executive Council had in 2022 issued a circular restricting any festival of traditional rulers across the state that involved the closure of markets to only the market adjoining their palaces.
Other towns across the state have since complied with the government directive. The circular has however been breached in the state capital with attempts to extend such festivals to neighbouring Isinkan and Isolo in spite of the historical records that showed that the contentious festival was forbidden from reaching those communities.
