ALAGBAKA EXTENSION LANDLORDS ASSOCIATION MAKES PRIVATE SECURITY REGISTRATION COMPULSORY
“We shall in collaboration with the police arrange to burst any gathering of ‘maiguards’ and shall arrest and kick out of the community, those failing, ignoring or refusing to register. It means they don’t work here.”
The Alagbaka Extension Phase Two has made registration of private security men in various houses compulsory towards safeguarding the community.
This was according to a circular issued and signed by the Chairman of the Landlords Association, Hon. Fred Ojo and made available to newsmen in Akure.
The executive council of the association had taken that decision to prevent unwanted miscreants in the estate, especially with the rate of insecurity in the country.
According to the Chairman, there is the need to register personal security in the various residential homes, considering the rate of influx of young men into the southwest from the northern part of the country owing to the high rate of insecurity in Nigeria.
“We are poised to achieve a better life here. The security committee in conjunction with our police post will provide a form that can be obtained from any of the security committee members, the security post or myself.”
“This form is to be filled by each ‘maiguard’ and their respective landlords and a date would be slated for interview.”
“Successful guards will be issued with an ID card and this exercise would attract minimal basic cost”.
While noting that the registration would be carried out within 14 days, Hon. Ojo stated that it would be a continuous exercise to enable those just joining the community partake in the exercise.
The Chairman however warned that any landlord who goes against the collective decision would be treated as sabotaging the efforts at ensuring adequate security of lives and property in the fast-developing community in Ondo State.
“We shall in collaboration with the police arrange to burst any gathering of ‘maiguards’ and shall arrest and kick out of the community, those failing, ignoring or refusing to register. It means they don’t work here.”
