ALLEGED FRAUDULENT PRACTICES OF SURVEYORS IN FOCUS AS RADIO PROGRAMME AIRS IN ONDO
The alleged fraudulent practices of Surveyors was in focus on Monday during a programme titled ‘Kootu Awon Mekunnu’ which simply translates to court of the less privileged on Crest 106.1 FM station in Akure the Ondo State capital.
The programme comes up every Monday with focus on selected social vibes that are capable of disrupting the peace of the society.
This edition monitored was devoted to analysing how the activities of surveyors have been endangering lives of residents as well as investors in Akure and by extension Ondo State.
Presenter of the programme, Ajibola Bamidele progresses with an allegation by an elderly woman who had bought a piece of land from one man and eventually realised that a corpse was later buried on the land.
All efforts to get to the root of the matter could not be achieved and that’s what took the woman simply identified as ‘Ruth’ to the programme.
After series of questioning, a surveyor was mentioned and a call put across to him live on the programme but his line was switched off.
The elderly woman later provided another number which belongs to a brother to the Surveyor Taye who promised to relay the message to the alleged fraudulent surveyor.
In the course of the programme, another surveyor had to be announced to make himself available for questioning after alleged fraudulent practices on 10 plots of land bought by another man had become a crisis yet to be resolved.
The man was also said to be battling with sickness.
The phone-in segment of the programme did not reflect a good side of surveyors practising in Akure and Ondo State as 99.9% of callers narrated how the alleged fraudulent practices have led to lack of peace in many quarters.
The caller’s alleged that it has become a psychological challenge to think of investing in property due to alleged connivance of surveyors and even legal practitioners.
However, a caller (names withheld) objected that those who carry out fraudulent practices and their clients must also have some things in common, arguing that good and credible surveyors exist.
In all, the callers called on appropriate regulatory agencies as well as the state house of assembly to investigate activities of surveyors in the state.
