The new Church in Uro Archdeaconry, Grace of God Anglican Church, BOUESTI Road, Ikere-Ekiti has been renamed OLUSOLA BAYODE MEMORIAL ANGLICAN CHURCH.
The approval was given by Rt Revd Andrew Olusola Ajayi, the Lord Bishop of Diocese of Ekiti, Anglican Communion in memory of the Late Chief Olusola Bayode.
The public announcement was made at the ongoing Ekiti Diocese Evangelical Convention (EDEC) at the campground, Odoro, Iyin Ekiti.
As a committed Churchman, Chief Olusola Bayode’s service in the Church started as a member of the Choir, through to being a Lay Reader and member of the PCC. , He also served as People’s Warden, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Uro, Ikere-Ekiti from 1966 to 1973.
Chief Olusola Bayode was treasurer of the Church from 1976 to 1986. He was a member of Ekiti Diocesan Synod from 1966 till his passing, serving as the Diocesan Assistant Synod Secretary from 1966 to 1979 and as Diocesan Synod Secretary, thereby being one of the 3 trustees of the Diocese, for 24 years between 1979 to 2003. He served under the first 4 Bishops of the Diocese, a record that has remained unbeaten.
Chief Bayode was a member of the Diocesan Educational Secretary-General’s Board (covering the old Western Region and Kwara State) from 1980 to 1987 and served as Chairman, Ile-Abiye Hospital Management Board from 2000 till 2005.
In Ikere-Ekiti, his home town, he was a frontliner in the development of the St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Uro, Ikere-Ekiti, his home Church for over sixty years.
Olusola Bayode, God’s faithful and loyal servant, was called home to a well-deserved rest on January 24, 2021.
