
ENCOMIUMS AS ONDO RENOWNED JOURNALIST, SUNDAY AJIBOLA BOWS OUT OF SERVICE
…Information Ministry Administrative Secretary, Lanre Akarakiri described veteran journalist as a reflection of hardwork, dedication and humility
They all gathered at the Conference Centre in the Ministry of Information premises at Alagbaka in Akure the Ondo State capital.
It was a programme put in place to honour an outstanding media practitioner and public servant who has contributed meaningfully to human and societal development through his profession.
Mr. Sunday Ajibola was bowing out of the public service having attained the exit age of 60 years old.
The event presided over by the Administrative Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Lanre Akarakiri had in attendance immediate family members of the reverred journalist as well as top officials of the ministry.
The Administrative Secretary, Mr. Lanre Akarakiri described Sunday Ajibola as a shining example of total commitment, dedication and humility.
Akarakiri said the veteran journalist has played significant roles in ensuring effective communication between the government and the governed while adhering strictly to the ethics of the profession.
The Administrative Secretary urged upcoming generations in the profession to emulate Mr. Ajibola who places priority on his job above other interests.
Directors in the ministry who Mrs.Titi Adegun and Nike Busari who worked with Ajibola in the then Ondo State Radiovision Corporation described him as exceptionally supportive and dependable.
Other Directors including Mr Adedayo Akindele and Mr Tony Adetoye said Ajibola’s level of humility will continue to be a reference point.
In his response, Mr Sunday Ajibola thanked the Administrative Secretary, Directors, colleagues, and friends present and advised all to put in their best, embrace unity, and continue to be good ambassadors of the ministry
Commenting, the veteran’s wife, Mrs. Stella Ajibola expressed profound gratitude for the kind words, warm wishes, and thoughtful gifts.
A recipient of the 2008 Best Press Officer in Ondo State Award, Sunday Ajibola began his journalism career at the then Ondo State Radio Corporation (ODRC) in 1999 as a sub-editor and rose to the position of editor.
He was later redeployed to the Ministry of Information in September 2004 and served across several ministries, including Agriculture, Works, Lands and Housing, Finance, and Economic Planning and Budget, where he dropped his pen.
