The OECD has raised concerns about New Zealand’s climate change efforts revealing it is not on track to meet either its 2030 or 2050 carbon emissions targets.
The survey has called for more measures to be taken to increase carbon pricing.
Secretary-General Mathias Cormann acknowledged New Zealand’s response to the pandemic has helped its economy as unemployment fell to its lowest level since 2007.
Mr Cormann, however, pushed for an adjustment of fiscal policy to stabilise inflation and housing prices which have seen government and household debt increase.
